Lab and Pathology

The Bayonne Medical Center laboratory is a full-service laboratory accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Our highly experienced staff has expertise in clinical chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and microbiology, therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical pathology. More than a half million samples are tested each year. It is the laboratory’s responsibility to assist the physicians to diagnose, classify and determine the status of disease.

With a staff of over 70 professionals, which includes three board certified pathologists, the laboratory is open around the clock every day of the year. Stringent quality control programs are an integral part of all testing. The laboratory uses LabCorp for most of its reference testing.

The Out Patient Laboratory is open Monday through Friday 7:15 am to 3:45 pm and Saturday 7:00 am to 11:30 am. Most patients are seen on a walk-in basis. Specialized tests, such as glucose tolerance tests, should be scheduled. House calls are available for patients who cannot come to the hospital for laboratory testing.
